Pepperstone: Trump's speech to crack down on Iran is disappointing

Pepperstone Group’s research strategist Dilin Wu said that President Donald Trump’s speech was “indeed disappointing,” as he announced victory while still threatening to attack Iran’s energy and electricity facilities.

Trump’s earlier statements about withdrawing from the Middle East now seem more like an attempt to soothe the market while keeping pressure options open.

Clearly, Trump still favors a strategy of applying pressure first and then easing tensions, rather than a straightforward de-escalation.
