Shanghai Securities pointed out that raw material shortages have impacted the global energy and chemical markets, leading to a comprehensive rise in chemical prices. Over the past week, most chemical prices have increased, and spreads have widened. Recently, passage through the Strait of Hormuz has been obstructed, preventing most Middle Eastern crude oil and naphtha from being shipped to Asia, causing petrochemical companies in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia to begin reducing production due to uncertain raw material supplies, with significant reductions in cracking unit operation. The situation in the Middle East continues to escalate, pushing international oil prices upward. The IEA report states that due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the global oil market is facing the most severe supply disruptions in history. If shipping cannot be restored quickly, the global crude oil supply gap will further widen.

Guotai Chemical ETF (516220) tracks the Sub-Industry Chemical Index (000813), which selects listed companies involved in sub-sectors such as fertilizers, pesticides, and coatings from the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets as index samples, reflecting the overall performance of listed chemical companies.
